Orchard Project Sponsored Residencies

As of 2019, the Orchard Project is creating “named” residencies that allow the sponsor to name a residency at the OP. The sponsored gifts have a significant impact on the lives and careers of artists by fully funding particular residencies at The Orchard Project. They also enable the Orchard Project to grow its support to artists. Each gift covers the cost of a single residency, including space, meals, accommodations, and the benefits of our dynamic community of artists.

  • Costs are variable for the size and scope of the theme of the residency

  • Donors can partner/pool in order to create a named residency opportunity

  • Sponsored residencies include a minimum commitment of three (3) years.

  • Residencies can also be endowed, at a term rate of 12.5 multiple

Both Annual and Endowed Residencies carry naming opportunities and may also be designated to support a specific discipline or focus, as agreed upon by the donor and the Orchard Project. Examples of such emphases could include, but are not limited to:

  • A residency supporting the developmental staging of new musical theatre project;

  • A new play or musical that encourages theater’s power to explore current political or moral issues confronting the United States;

  • A project or team that is predominantly female-led;

Recipients of sponsored residencies would be requested to include the name of the residency in all credit normally afforded the Orchard Project.

  • For instance, the traditional credit for a project developed at the Orchard Project would be:

    • "[Title of Project] was developed, in part, with assistance from the Orchard Project ( www.orchardproject.com), Ari Edelson, Artistic Director.” (with logo)

  • A sponsored residency would change such agreed upon credit to:

    • "[Title of Project] was developed, in part, with assistance from the [NAME OF RESIDENCY] at the Orchard Project ( www.orchardproject.com), Ari Edelson, Artistic Director.” (with logo)

Donors would receive reports each year about the recipients of their residency, and opportunities will created for personal interaction with the artists, including dinners at the Orchard Project and sitting together at the Orchard Project's annual gala in NYC.

The full amount of a sponsored residency is tax deductible.
