Saratoga Springs is located just 30 minutes north of Albany and around 3 hours from New York City and Boston.
If you are flying in, your destination will be the Albany International Airport and you may need to rent a car, get a limo or take a bus to travel those 20 miles from Albany to Saratoga.
If you are driving, you'll want to consult our driving directions to Saratoga. We are exits 13N-15 off the Northway.
You may be interested to know that there is also an Amtrak station in downtown Saratoga Springs, providing daily service from several major cities, including Manhattan, Montreal and Burlington.

From New York City: Take Rt 87 (NYS Thruway) North to Exit 24 (Albany), At Albany continue north take I-87 (The Adirondack Northway) north to Exit 13N, 14 or 15.
From Boston: Take the Mass. Pike to NYS Thruway (I-90), travel north on I-90 to Exit 24, Take I-87 (The Adirondack Northway) north to Exit 13N, 14 or 15
From Montreal and North of Saratoga: Take I-87 (The Adirondack Northway) south to Exit 15.

The Albany Airport is 30 miles south of Saratoga. Car rentals, limo service and buses are available. Some area lodging properties also provide shuttle service. In addition, Amtrak provides daily service to a newly built station in downtown Saratoga Springs from several major cities including Manhattan, Montreal and Burlington.
All residents will be staying at houses located in and around Saratoga Springs, NY. All accommodations include: private bedrooms, shared baths, communal kitchens, communal living spaces, free laundry facilities, linens (sheets) and towels provided. With some exceptions, CHECK IN is after 3:00pm on the day of arrival and CHECK OUT is by 10:00am on the day of departure. If you plan to arrive before 3:00pm and need a place to store your bags, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
All residences will be stocked with breakfast foods. Lunches will be on your own, though vouchers will be provided for select establishments. Dinner is provided by the OP and served buffet style. Vegetarian and other dietary options (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc) are provided upon request. Requests for options based on allergies and dietary restrictions must be indicated on your registration form and submitted no less than two weeks prior to arrival.
Artists will have the oppotunity to enjoy one dinner on their own during their stay, however dinners are an integral part of the Orchard Project experience and attendance is expected of all resident artists. In the past, the Orchard Project has lost significant funds when teams or companies decide to skip a meal that had already been prepared and paid for. For this reason, in the rare chance a meal is missed, we have instituted a $20 per person fee for each artist who fails to show up to a scheduled dinner without at least 48 hours notice.

- PERSONAL PROPERTY
The Orchard Project is not responsible for, nor can be held liable for, any lost, stolen or damaged property brought on premises by any resident artist or guest nor for any property or bodily harm occurring on the premises. Should participants decide to travel with valuables, they are encouraged to bring their own means of securing them. While in residence, the representing Company assumes full responsibility and liability for any damage done by their selected residents to any properties provided by The Orchard Project.
From beginning to end, residencies are casual affairs. Day time temperatures can range from 50°F – 85°F. Evenings can get chilly, so be sure to pack a jacket, sweatshirt or sweater. It seems that bugs are often attracted to artists. Please pack lightweight, long pants and long-sleeve shirts to protect yourself. Please pack your own bug repellant and sun screen. You'll be doing lots of walking - plus the environment provides wonderful opportunities for jogging and exploring - so please bring adequate footwear.
All events and activities held at The Orchard Project are very casual. Dress for comfort.
All rehearsals and work sessions may will take place in and around the town center (within walking distance of all artist housing). Tables and chairs will be provided upon request. You are responsible for bringing or acquiring any hand props you may need.
Clean bed linens and a clean towel will be provided at the beginning of your stay. It is suggested you pack additional towels should you plan on swimming. Free washer and dryer on premises.
Typically, rehearsal facilities will remain locked when not in use. Each individual artist will receive a set of keys to the house where they are staying. A credit card is required with your signed contract that will be kept on file. A replacement fee of $10 will be charged for each set of keys that is lost or stolen.
There is absolutely no smoking permitted within any of the facilities provided by the Orchard Project - including houses and rehearsal halls. Smoking may take place outside only and all cigarette butts must be disposed of in the available receptacles.
The Orchard Project maintains an on-site office for full access to printing and copying. We recommend that you send any materials that need to be printed to email@example.com ahead of your arrival. Should you need materials printed or copied once you arrive, just contact any member of the Core Company or Orchard Project staff to make arrangements. Each resident company is permitted to print 200 pages. Additional printing can be arranged for a one time fee of $25.00.
