The Orchard Project's new Bootcamp Initiative provides professional development workshops for artists of all types to develop skills through an intimate program with OP staff and affiliated artists and professionals.
Have you ever thought about producing your own work? Do you want to take the next step from developing work to realizing it? Are you putting up your own shows and wondering if there are other ways to do it? Producing Yourself will cover the ins and outs of mounting your own work in the theatre. From fundraising and capital building to budgeting and marketing we will look at different models artists and small companies can use to get their own productions funded, staged and noticed. This boot camp will be hosted in the OP NYC offices by Abby Marcus, OP Managing Director. Abby produced indie theater for 15 years in New York City with her company, Vampire Cowboys and off-broadway with LAByrinth, HERE Arts Center and many others. In addition to her work with the Orchard Project, she is currently on faculty teaching Creative Producing at CalArts
Led by Abby Marcus, OP Managing Director and CalArts Producing Faculty.
Furthering the Orchard Project's mission to accelerate the development of the next generation of storytelling, the bootcamps allow artists to take control of their own development through sessions at the OP's office in midtown Manhattan. As many of our professional development programs are focused on building community, these online sessions also provide networking opportunities to registered participants. Bootcamps include workshop and hands on advising on materials. Each session will be offered with a maximum capacity of 20 participants. If more than 20 participants sign up, additional sessions may be opened up. If you are interested in bringing customized learning to your community, please contact Grace Parker, Associate Producer, at grace@orchardproject.com.
