Greetings from the Orchard Project!
As spring slowly starts to thaw out both our upstate and downstate homes, the Orchard Project has been busy selecting work to support in 2018 and expanding with new programs. For our fourth summer in Saratoga Springs, we will be supporting over 30 new shows that will go to theatres across the country and world. We will also be expanding the Orchard Project's theatre program from five weeks to six, and launching a new two week program in July that will bring television writers, TV studio executives, and top talent to Saratoga to develop the next generation of episodic content.
And as has become a hallmark of the Orchard Project, every once in a while, we will open up the doors to allow our local advocates and supporters to see world class new work in Saratoga Springs.
Our 2018 membership program, allowing supporters free and exclusive entry to events, will launch soon, but in the meantime, we wanted to share the dates for our events, which include:
- The return of BUSK!, our free event for the Saratoga community, and its accompaning BUSK! Cabaret;
- Two Special Guest Cabarets, featuring famed stars as they visit the OP for one-night only special events;
- Our Work-in-Progress Cabarets, featuring highlights of some of the shows currently being worked on at the OP;
- And three weekends of Sneak Peeks, exclusive opportunties to see play readings, pop-ups, and special showings of new work.
As with years past, much of our the Orchard Project programming will be available to members only. This is because of the deal we strike with our artists-in-residence: we give them the room, time, and safety to take big risks; they agree to share the work exclusively with our intimate and forward-thinking community of supporters. This arrangement has allowed us, in the past, to host surprising and intimate offerings from the likes of Alan Cumming and Esperanza Spalding -- and we can't wait to tell you who we have lined up for this year.
We look forward to seeing you this June and July, and will send more details about various events soon.
Thanks!
